What is a SIP garden room made of?

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are panels used in an advanced method of construction, offering superior insulation, structural strength and air-tightness over traditional construction methods or systems.

Panels are made as a composite by layering a rigid insulating material between outer boards. The resulting panel is both strong and well insulated, making them lightweight, quick to erect and free from problems of compression shrinkage and cold bridging associated with other forms of construction. The most common materials are Oriented Strand Board (OSB) with a core of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), although other materials can also be used.

Panels are available in a choice of thicknesses, to suit a wide variety of applications. SIPs are used in floors, walls and roofs for residential, industrial, educational and commercial applications, providing ecologically friendly and energy efficient buildings, and SIP garden rooms.
